CARA MCCARTHY HUTCHINS

Cara is a right + left brain entrepreneur who builds brands by creating links between people and experiences. Seeing a need for a full-service agency startups and non-profits could afford, Cara founded Communications, Ink. Cara has an AB from Vassar College and an MBA from Babson College. Prior to founding Communications, Ink, Cara worked on the mortgage trading desk of Solomon Brothers, as Director of Investor Relations at Presidio Oil Company and as Advertising Manager at State Street Bank & Trust Company where she was responsible for all global advertising and market research.
As a multi-talented generalist, Cara works with a wide range of organizations, using her breadth of knowledge to develop integrated communications programs that help her clients succeed. She uses her creative mind to solve tomorrow’s problems. Her work as a marketing partner with her clients has earned numerous Hermes, Davey, Marcomm and Association of Graphic Communications awards.
In addition to her work at Communications, Ink, Cara is a passionate volunteer who has served on numerous boards and advisory committees including Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, The Women’s Fund of Essex County, Friends of Beverly Hospital, Pingree School, Montserrat College of Art, Vassar College and the deBeaumont Foundation.
MELISSA WILBER
CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Melissa is a dynamic, creative professional that brings years of progressive client-side, agency and consulting experience to any given opportunity. She is a champion of brand growth and strives to achieve it on all levels. She has a deep understanding of how to pull the essence out of a project and make it shine by continuously brainstorming fresh ideas.
A graduate from the Art Institute of Atlanta, and continuing her education at General Assembly for front End Web Design, Melissa has created everything from packaging, web and catalog design to full-scale rebranding of well known companies across the country. She is no stranger to hiking a mountain on a photo shoot to get just the right shot or coming up with a quick-witted social media post to boost a brand. She lives in Gloucester, has two great boys and a dog named Daisy.
CAZZY SMITH
DIGITAL DIRECTOR
Cazzy joins our team with over 20 years of experience in marketing, project management and web and graphic design. As Digital Director, she helps clients grow their businesses by creating cohesive digital platforms that include website development, social media management and e-mail marketing.
Cazzy is a graduate of the University of Maine and continued her design and marketing education at the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston. Cazzy and her family live in Beverly and when she’s not scouring the internet she enjoys working with horses and helps to organize local horse shows. She’s been told her own Instagram account is a bit “horse heavy” but in her professional opinion, there’s no such thing.
CRAIG GRANT
SENIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER
With more than 30 years working in various ad agencies, as a freelancer, and on the client side in-house, Craig has developed creative for a variety of clients: Au Bon Pain, BodyWorlds, Fidelity, Hasbro, Harvard Graduate School, Mass. Dept. of Public Health, Natixis, Northeastern, Portland Science Center, SUBWAY, Vertex and more.
Craig is a graduate of the Mass. College of Art and Design, and continued his design education at Boston University’s Center for Digital Imaging and Arts. For 17 years, he’s been part of the affiliated faculty at Emerson College, teaching design and visual literacy classes to MARCOMM juniors and seniors. He’s also a frequent guest lecturer at Endicott College in Beverly, Salem State University’s Enterprise Center and helped create the design curriculum for Bellevue University in Nebraska.
Craig gives back to the community through pro bono work, and helped create The Super Hunger Brunch, which has raised over $2 million for the Greater Boston Food Bank and is in its 32nd year. He’s also provided pro bono work for Friends of Mel/The Art of Living, March of Dimes, Northeast Arc, the Salvation Army and other non-profits.
Craig lives in Swampscott with his family and pets which include multiple cats and dogs.
SCOTT MURPHY
WEB DESIGNER
Scott Murphy has spent the last 19 years building up a portfolio of well over 100 dynamic websites for companies all across the United States. From E-commerce sites for small retail shops to large scale web communities for multi-national companies, He specializes in website design, E-commerce, social media optimization and online brand building. Scott continues to utilize his expertise to develop state of the art, mobile friendly, industry leading and award winning websites for our small,local clients and large corporate partners.
Before joining Communications, Ink Scott honed his marketing skills during a 27-year career in radio broadcasting. He worked closely with small businesses to market their stores, products and services gaining valuable experience in branding, creative copywriting and multi-media concepts. He has transferred those marketing skills into his web designs and continues to come up with unique ways to connect with every client’s prospective customers.
Scott brings an unlimited wealth of knowledge to the team. His creative web designs have delivered massive results over the years and he is prepared to do the same for you, your company and your customers!
ERIN CLANCY
JUNIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Erin graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design Communications from Roger Williams University. Since graduation in 2020, she has gained experience in education, advertising, retail, design and the fitness industry. Erin hopes to continue using her passion for art/design, education, and helping others to develop brands for entrepreneurial spirited people, businesses and organizations.
ANNE VINSEL
HEAD ANIMATOR
Anne Vinsel is an award winning Animator, Graphics Artist, and Video Editor with more than 20 years experience. She has loved animation since she made “flip book” animations in middle school. With a Bachelor's degree in Art from the University of New Hampshire, Anne can hand draw animations as well as create computer generated ones.
She works with clients to customize animations to create or match their corporate brand. While the majority of her work is corporate in nature, she worked on an award winning series of animated interstitials, “What Makes Us Tick” for the Oxygen Network. In her spare time, she rides horses and competes in horse shows, teaches children to ride horses and loves the outdoors.
KATIE WRIGHT
HEAD COPYWRITER
Katie graduated from the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University with a degree in magazine journalism in 2015. Katie loves combining photography and writing to transport readers and inspire them to explore the world around them.
